Captivate IQ 

A B2B platform whose primary function is comprehensive automation of sales commissions at scale for internal sales teams, including annual bonuses, stretch goals, and tiered benchmarks.

Objectives

Onboarding is often the most crucial point of contact for an organization. This case study highlights some of the regular issues CIQ faced and frames out the problems in order to develop proper solutions to these issues. My primary goal was to simplify the workflow and develop a new user pattern. Secondary goals I went ahead and addressed the cold nature of the product by introducing illustrations and reworking product messaging. Initiating the investigation, I worked closely with the project manager to map out the problem space, draw out the ux issues, and ideate on solutions.


Challenges


The inbedded CSV interpreter could sometimes cause naming rows incorrect or blank. Surfacing errors and listing which rows needed to be addressed was crucial to success of the feature.

Impact



In beta testing the new feature was really well received. There were some comments from power users who weren’t familiar with the new paradigm, but they quickly adapted. Onboarding and thus customer service time was greatly reduced post launch.



Future Opportunities



I didn’t have much of a POV of the product at the time. I operated primarily on those rigid items I listed earlier and went in head first. Reflecting on time I would’ve done more interviewing with the Eng team to promote more knowledge transfer, rather than acting more independently.
