Objectives
The ITIN onboarding process was implemented to automate the back office of our ITIN application process for customers. I collaborated with our lead backend engineer to develop this process from zero to one. This involved gathering information from stakeholders, coordinating the legal aspects, and working with our member experience team to set up the process for the internal beta. Our efforts included automating document uploading, signature processing, and passport verification to ensure a seamless process from purchase to document approval by the IRS.

Back office
The back office tooling serves as an administrative hub where internal systems collect uploaded documents for processing. Member experience utilizes the document viewer within this tooling to efficiently review and approve uploaded documents, ensuring a streamlined approval process for customers.
Testing
In the initial phase of the ITIN process, Maza utilized Intercom's wireframing tools to swiftly prototype and beta test customer interest without expensing engineering resources. As the product concept took shape, Maza concurrently refined its sales strategy while iterating on the ITIN process. This agile approach allowed for efficient development and testing while simultaneously strategizing on product positioning and sales tactics.

UI Focus
In the ITIN project, decision-making revolves around providing customers with comprehensive information about the benefits of obtaining an ITIN as under-documented residents. Balancing clarity with authority, prescriptive decisions were made to ensure a direct and authoritative approach to guide customers through the process with confidence and clarity, facilitating informed decision-making
